The Right Wing and its smear machine is at it again. One of President Obama's nominees needs your help.
President Obama has nominated Chai Feldblum to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Feldblum has had an exemplary career culminating in her current role as a Full Professor of Law at Georgetown University and Director of the Federal Legislation and Administrative Clinic. But since her nomination, she has been vilified by the Right Wing, and attacked specifically by the Catholic Right Wing. In an editorial on CatholicOnline, Deacon Keith Fournier wrote: "Ms. Feldblum’s work to, in the words of the announcement, advance “lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights”, places marriage and religious freedom in America at grave risk." Founier is essentially saying that Feldbaum's advocacy of basic human rights under the law somehow threatens the very fabric of the nation. We must counter this hysterical nonsense.

Please Support the Pregnant Women Support Act
(Email Archive Link)
Catholic Democrats Activists:
I am writing you today to ask you to lend your support to the Pregnant Women Support Act, which is moving through congress S 1032 in the Senate and HR 2035 in the House. This legislation seeks to support pregnant women by giving them better access to information and government services. It does not seek to criminalize abortion, or seek to be divisive by using the overblown rhetoric from the past.
While I have decided to support this initiative, I am interested in your opinion. Please go to the Catholic Democrats PAC site, and vote your opinion in the poll.
http://www.catholicdempac.org/
As you know, the Catholic Democrats PAC focuses its support on Social Justice and Peace issues. When it comes to Life issues, our stated goal is to reduce the numbers of abortions in this country by every means except criminalization and throwing women and doctors into jail. This legislation, in my opinion does just that. It also has the key provision which seeks to reduce the single largest cause of abortion in this country, unintended pregnancy.
While no piece of legislation is perfect, it is written and offered in the best spirit of the Common Good movement, by bringing together the best ideas from all sides.
I urge you to research this legislation and call congress and ask them to support it.
Sincerely,
Bill Roth Treasurer, Founder Catholic Democrats PAC

One of our featured candidates from 2008, Rep. Patrick Murphy, has taken the courageous stand last week in becoming the principal sponsor of the legislation to end "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". A web site has been launched for this:
http://www.letthemserve.com/
We need your help to support candidates who share our values....values like the ongoing struggle for full civil rights for our LGBT brothers and sisters.
Please help us support courageous public servants by supporting Rep. Murphy at the web site above.
Also, please take a look at our new web site:

Thank you for participating in the process of building a better America.
Sincerely,
Bill Roth Catholic Democrats PAC |
